Curl Collection's Guide to Good Hair
Here's our tried and tested methods to get the greatest longevity out of your extensions and achieve those sleek styles. Following the necessary aftercare will ensure your hair is long lasting and laid at all times! No cheating...
To wash
Curly and straight textures:
- Use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner to avoid drying the hair
- Gently wrap the hair in a microfibre towel to remove excess water, then blow dry (straight) or air dry (curly)
- Avoid aggressive rubbing to prevent breakage
To detangle
Curly textures:
- Part the hair into medium sections
- Spray each section with water, then apply generous amounts of your favourite conditioner to create 'slip'
- Using a wide tooth comb, gently detangle working from tips to roots
Straight textures:
- Part the hair into medium sections
- Gently detangle, working from tips to roots
To moisturise / hydrate
Curly textures:
- Wet the hair generously, then apply your favourite conditioner
- Seal in moisture with a light oil
Straight textures:
- Seal in moisture with a light oil / serum. Be sure to catch those ends!
To style
Curly textures:
- Part the hair into medium sections
- Wet the hair and apply generous amounts of your favourite styling cream
- Ensuring the hair is fully detangled, use a Denman brush to define your curls. Finger coil for further definition
*we advise against heat styling our curly textures - whilst the hair will respond well to heat tools, there is no guarantee that it will revert to its original curl pattern*
Straight textures:
- Gently detangle / smooth out hair with a wide tooth comb
- If applying heat, part the hair into small sections before styling. Always use heat protectant when applying heat
Dyeing / bleaching
We advise against excessive dyeing and bleaching as, similarly to natural hair, this can cause damage to your extensions.
If you do wish to dye or bleach your extensions, we recommend having this done professionally using the appropriate techniques to avoid damage.
Sleeping
If/when sleeping in your extensions, place the hair in loose ponytail. Then slip on a satin bonnet, silk scarf or pillowcase to reduce friction and retain moisture.
